Survey-grade positioning by way of smartphone and other mobile devices is on the rise as those devices evolve. The use of consumer-grade devices as a platform for professional surveying equipment with the help of an app is something that Trimble recognizes potential in.
With this in mind, the company has launched a new GNSS receiver, Catalyst, which is embedded into Trimble applications. It allows users to access high-accuracy positioning in the field on their smartphone.
“Customers using Collector for ArcGIS Online are already deploying smartphones in the field and something was missing,” says Rachel Blair Winkler, business area manager with Trimble Mapping and GIS. “The high-accuracy location was a missing part of that workflow. So together now with the Trimble Catalyst technology, customers can add that on to their existing smartphone workflow.”
