The keynote, titled "Living in the Point Cloud," will provide an overview of Volvo's shift toward a complete virtual verification of the manufacturing process in an era of decreased lead times, slashed budgets and a market screaming for new technology. The SPAR 2014 conference is April 14-17 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

This presentation will show Volvo's best practices in using point clouds directly in simulation, but will also extrapolate lessons learned from living in the point cloud. The auto group certainly has some fantastic challenges ahead of it: coping with increasing amounts of data, different data capturing technologies, end user expectations, and trying to explain to the world what it's doing and why it prefers to live in the point cloud.
