Under contract with Niceville, Fla.-based Gustin, Cothern & Tucker Inc., which performs civil engineering and surveying, Merrick and Co.’s geospatial solutions group is providing high-resolution digital elevation data from LiDAR, covering approximately 8,408 square miles of Nebraska.

The data will be used by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS) to generate digital elevation models and contours for use in dam safety assessments, engineering design and design reviews, conservation planning, research, delivery, floodplain mapping and hydrologic modeling.

Once completed, Aurora, Colo.-based Merrick will have acquired and processed LiDAR data for Nebraska and USDA-NRCS totaling nearly 39,000 square miles since the project began in 2008.
