Maptek’s I-Site laser scanners are widely used in open-pit mining, where engineers need access to accurate data for pit surfaces and stockpile volumes. But as the company worked closely with mining operations, it discovered a need for a more versatile system—one that could also be used underground. To meet that need, Maptek introduced the I-Site 8200, a laser scanner with a scan window of -35 to 90 degrees vertically and 360 degrees horizontally and is designed for use underground.
The new technology was a highlight of Maptek’s exhibit at SPAR International 2013. Clayton Fritz, technical sales engineer for Maptek, explains some key advantages of the I-Site 8200 in this interview with GeoDataPoint.
