MAPPS Announces New Board Of Directors
GIS professional Susan Marlow elected MAPPS president
MAPPS, a national association of private sector geospatial firms, has elected a slate of new officers and members to its 2015-2016 board of directors.
Susan Marlow, a GIS professional and principal with Stantec of Nashville, Tenn., is the new president of MAPPS. She succeeds Jeff Lower, executive vice president of IIC Technologies Inc. For the past year, Marlow has served as president-elect.
"MAPPS is about inclusion," Marlow says. "We are a community where every firm contributes to the greater geospatial community. Together we make a difference. My goal is to welcome more members while strengthening the bonds of cooperation and team work among the member firms. MAPPS members do big things in the profession...and FOR the profession, and I look forward to helping to build and grow the community. "
The vote of new directors by the MAPPS membership was held during the association's annual business meeting in July at the MAPPS Summer Conference in Oregon:
- Brian Raber, vice president of Merrick & Company in Colorado, has been elected to the position of president-elect and will assume Marlow’s position in 2016. Raber has served as chair of the Membership Task Force and the International Exporting Conference, is a member of the Legislative Affairs Committee, and chaired the 2014 Geospatial and Engineering Conference.
- Mitch Long, of GRW Aerial Services, Inc. in Kentucky, and Chris Ogier, regional manager for the Spicer Group in Georgia, won re-election as directors on the MAPPS board.
- Joseph Seppi, practice leader with Woolpert in Virginia; Mark Brooks, vice president of Magnolia River in Alabama; Kelly Francis, president of Aero-Graphics in Utah; and Thomas Newman, president and CEO of TerraSond in Alaska, joined the board as directors.
- Also serving on the MAPPS board are Robert Hanson, senior vice president of Michael Baker International in Pennsylvania, and George Southard, director of programs with Trimble in Colorado.
