Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, consulting, planning, technical and professional services, is opening the doors to a new home in the Dallas area to better serve its customers and the community.
“Our new office gives us room to grow and will make us even more accessible to our clients here in the region,” says Juan Contreras, vice president and Dallas office executive for Michael Baker International. “We are commemorating our 75th anniversary this year and are committed to continuing our heritage of transforming communities by combining global expertise and experience with local knowledge.”
The new location will be offer a broad array of services that include everything from civil engineering, architectural design and interior design to transportation systems planning and bridge design and inspection.
At its grand opening event on June 18, guests got a first glimpse at the office and saw a demonstration of the company’s Lynx Mobile Mapper System using the latest Mobile LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology. The Mobile LiDAR vehicle enables the company to complete accurate engineering surveys and asset mapping for highways, runways and other critical infrastructure projects. In addition, guests saw how unmanned aerial systems are becoming an important tool in Michael Baker’s work on a variety of projects.
The S.M. Wright Freeway Project is a recent example of Michael Baker’s investment in the region. It will provide a direct connection from US 175 to Interstate 45, eliminate a dangerous curve known locally as “Dead Man’s Curve,” and provide opportunities for neighborhood revitalization and economic development. Michael Baker International partnered with the City of Dallas, TxDOT and the North Texas Tollway Authority to complete the project.
“Smart, sustainable development can only occur when reliable infrastructure is in place. It becomes the foundation for the kind of initiative that generates jobs and economic growth,” Contreras says. “Dallas is emerging as an international destination for business and commerce with major corporations choosing to locate their operations here. We’re glad to be part of the city’s future.”
