Two RIEGL VUX-1 UAS laser scanners have been purchased by RME Geomatics in two months.

The addition of the second VUX-1 to RME Geomatics will allow the company to aggressively expand their capacity through the installation of a permanent crew in Calgary. The crew will consolidate and expand the West Coast Canadian operations of RME Geomatics.

“Using the RIEGL VUX-1 is simply the most robust and reliable way to rapidly expand our operations,” says Stephen Davies, Head of Business Development of RME Geomatics. “The quality of the data and the way we can integrate it onto our Renegade UAV allows us to scale up in a way that no other current system can.”

RME Geomatics is a subsidized division of a large publicly-traded company, Rocky Mountain Equipment, and with the influx of projects the company is receiving, the need for the highest quality and best capability is constantly growing. RME’s Renegade, combined with the RIEGL VUX-1, will allow the company to continue to expand operations while providing the highest quality services to their customers.

The VUX-1 series of laser scanners are lightweight and compact LiDAR sensors, designed to be mounted in any orientation and even under limited weight and space conditions. The VUX-1 series of instruments was developed as a new class of LiDAR sensor to meet the challenges of emerging surveying solutions by UAS, UAV, RPAS, gyrocopters, and ultra-light aircraft, both in measurement performance and in system integration.

The purchases allow RIEGL to continue building its relationship with RME Geomatics and their customers to further build a joint presence in the unmanned and aerial industries.

RIEGL USA delivers cutting edge technology in unmanned, airborne, mobile, and terrestrial LiDAR scanning solutions. From purchase, to system integration, as well as training and support, RIEGL USA stands out as a leader in the industry.
