People from around the world took part in GIS Day on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Among those people were fifth-grade students from Notre Dame Academy in Georgia. The students celebrated GIS Day at the Johns Creek Environment Campus in Roswell, Ga., where they toured the facility and learned about watershed management. Students also learned about GIS by playing geography games.
Engineering students from Johns Creek High School visited the JCEC later in the afternoon to learn about GIS careers. The Fulton County Government Center in downtown Atlanta also hosted a GIS Day event that was open to the public.
According to the Esri website, GIS Day began in 1999. This year, many events were scheduled around the globe.
