In order to develop new applications for oblique imagery, Pix4D has recently signed a partnership with Visual Intelligence LP, a sensor technology company based in Houston, which delivers solutions for airborne, terrestrial and mobile applications.
With the iOne family of modular and scalable sensors, Visual Intelligence has set out to build and deliver the best performing oblique/3D geoimaging system at the best economic value in regards to existing technical solutions. Pix4D’s partnership with Visual Intelligence is aimed to providing customers with the most streamlined and efficient image oblique processing, modeling and product generation.
"More and more we see the transition from a two‐dimensional representation of geographic information towards a real three-dimensional description of our environment. This step requires new technology, both on the image capturing side as well as for automatic processing of the raw imagery,” said Christoph Strecha, CEO and founder of Pix4D. “Visual Intelligence is developing a unique modular system of cameras that delivers high quality obliques very efficiently. Our partnership does result in the tide integration of software and hardware for very easy and user friendly solutions to various applications, the generation of semantic 3D city models being one of them”.
Since Visual Intelligence’s iOne sensors are scalable to the miniaturization level, both companies share an open systems approach whereby the same software workflow can be applied from the large systems all the way down to the UAV and miniaturized mobile systems.
Armando Guevara, President and CEO of Visual Intelligence, said: “Worldwide, geoimaging customers are looking for multipurpose (sensor fusion), economical quality systems with high performance and that is what we provide. With Pix4D software, our customers will be able to leverage the values of this unique system as all output will integrate with Pix4D. As we move forward, I expect that in our teaming with Pix4D we will continue to come to market with geoimaging collection and processing innovations that synergize our paradigm from the sensor to desktop actionable information in no time.”
