Frontier Surveying Co. Honored with a 2012 Esri SAG Award
Frontier Surveying Co. was one of more than 170 organizations honored during the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Awards ceremony on July 25 at the annual Esri International User Conference (Esri UC) in San Diego, California. The SAG Awards acknowledge innovative and intelligent applications of GIS technology.
"Each year, the SAG Awards highlight extraordinary achievements and efforts to improve our world," says Esri president Jack Dangermond. "At Esri, we are always deeply impressed with the work of our users. This recognition is well deserved for how they've applied geospatial technology to address the needs of their industries and communities. They are defining GIS best practices."
Frontier Surveying is building, deploying and maintaining an enterprise-wide, cloud-based GIS that staff and clients can quickly access and easily use. Using technologies such as ArcMap 10.1, ArcGIS Explorer, ArcGIS Online for organizations, AutoCAD, Trimble GPS Data Collectors and the Internet, the company seeks to meet the growing demand for spatial data assets and information sharing. On the awards website, the description of the business problem solved notes: "Beyond physical and virtual boundaries, ArcGIS Online for organizations is enabling our company to meet the mounting demand for our time and services by making geographic information available on call via self-service portals to customers via Esri's managed cloud infrastructure. Still in its infancy, ArcGIS Online for organizations is already going viral at Frontier Surveying Company. It is quickly evolving as the depository where multiple users simultaneously access, store, add and edit spatial data and information."
