Intermap, a provider of 3D terrain information and geospatial solutions announces that Esri has selected the Company’s NEXTMap database to serve as a core component of its soon to be released World Elevation Service (WES). The new integration will make Intermap’s leading-edge geographic information system (GIS) data the first commercial content available to subscribers of Esri’s Premium WES.

Esri’s WES, unveiled yesterday at their annual International User Conference, is an aggregation of 3D terrain information available on a global basis. NEXTMap data available to premium subscribers will allow users to perform view shed, line of sight, slope analysis and other common GIS analysis functions. Intermap’s NEXTMap dataset will also be available to users of Esri’s ArcGIS software.

"This integration allows us to expand our service offering by giving our users access to Intermap’s NEXTMap 3D dataset," said Jack Dangermond, president of Esri. "Overall, this service will enable users to perform location-based analysis that will improve their organization's performance, effectiveness and efficiency."

"We’re pleased to be working with Esri on this exciting new service," said Todd Oseth, president and CEO of Intermap. "The incorporation of Intermap’s DTM (digital terrain model) and DSM (digital surface model) content with Esri’s software creates a powerful offering for customers worldwide."
