Geographic information engineering firm IGN France International, export subsidiary of the French IGN, recently opened its own subsidiary in Abu Dhabi. The opening of this new office will allow the company to respond to the growing needs of leaders in the Middle East in the field of geomatics (cartography, geodesy, geographic data, GIS, web portals, etc.) and to accompany them in their infrastructural projects.
Sylvain Gevrey, regional director for the Gulf countries, confirms the area's potential where geographic information is concerned."The United Arab Emirates are currently facing an intense wave of urbanization intense that we hear about daily through the diverse projects in Dubaï, Abu Dhabi or in smaller cities like Al Ain and Sharjah," Gevrey said. "Municipalities play a leading role in the organization, management and prevention of risks. ... Obviously, the management of urban growth necessitates the most recent, up-to-date and continuous cartography, from multiform GIS that integrate services, cadastre, addressing, the 3D urban results, WEB cartography resting on the most recent and sophisticated technologies. The demand is urgent and consequent.

It is thus in the hopes of accompanying decision-makers for the duration that IGN France International chose to make its presence known in Abu Dhabi. The offices are now operational via a consultancy contract with the Abu Dhabi municipality for urban 3D."

Beyond the Emirates, IGN France International wished to use this new local presence to confirm its interest in all Gulf countries. For more information, visit
