The new suite will first be introduced on the MobileMapper 6 professional GPS/GIS handheld receiver but over time it will be rolled out to the entire line of Ashtech MobileMapper GPS/GIS receivers.

Nantes, France  – Ashtech is releasing the MobileMapper Field and MobileMapper Office, a new GIS and mapping software suite with advanced data collection and processing features. The new suite will first be introduced on the MobileMapper 6 professional GPS/GIS handheld receiver but over time it will be rolled out to the entire line of Ashtech MobileMapper GPS/GIS receivers. The new software suite replaces the previously available Mobile Mapping and MobileMapper 6 Office applications.

The new software suite provides a new graphical interface, common to Field and Office, and it includes all the features and options previously available in Mobile Mapping and MobileMapper 6 Office software.

In addition, MobileMapper Field enables collection of multiple features at the same time, the ability to label collected features, configuration of antenna height, and support of the DXF, MIF or CSV formats.  It also offers a direct interface to Laser Technology Inc.’s (LTI) ranger finders.  The direct interface enables automatic input of distance and bearing to a distant object to easily collect offsets.

MobileMapper Office has been enriched with new features including an on-screen distance measurement tool, a quality control option to filter out questionable points to improve overall data accuracy and quality. Last but not least, it offers the ability to export collected data to a KML file, providing an excellent way to plot and immediately verify position data against a Google Earth background map.

“Ashtech accelerates investments in new products and solutions to meet emerging customer requirements and to keep the products easy-to-use. The new MobileMapper Field and MobileMapper Office are a result of this approach, offering a complete set of features and options for virtually every GIS application as well as cross-product compatibility”, said Jacek Pietruczanis, GIS product marketing manager.

New MobileMapper Field and Office software are available free by visiting the Ashtech FTP site for new software downloads. www.ashtech.com/en/support/ Current Users can also contact their resellers about the upgrade. Visit www.ashtech.com/en/dealerlocator/index.asp

The MobileMapper 6 is an extremely rugged, compact, Microsoft Windows Mobile-based, wireless capable and price-competitive professional GPS/GIS handheld receiver with post-processing option capable of adding sub-meter accuracy performance.  Ashtech offers professional GIS and mapping solutions to professionals in a wide range of markets, including forestry, agriculture, natural resources, governments, utilities, or oil and gas.
