ATLANTA – AirSage, Inc. and Dewberry have signed a
Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on a new generation of products and
services for the Emergency Management (EM) community including federal, state,
local and private entities.
The companies will integrate
population location and movement information from the AirSage WiSE platform into
new and existing applications for emergency planning, preparedness, and
response. The AirSage WiSE platform aggregates and analyzes wireless signaling
data from mobile phones to securely and privately monitor the location and
movement of populations in real-time, while maintaining complete user anonymity
and privacy.
“Dewberry has consistently
championed the use of technology to help agencies at the federal and state
levels improve the efficiency and effectiveness of emergency management
services” said Vice President Allen Groover. “AirSage data provides
detailed insight about where people are and how they are moving, and this opens
up game-changing, and potentially life-saving advances in emergency planning and
response. We are looking forward to working with our clients to put these new
ideas into practice.”
For example, AirSage data can
provide an hour-by-hour view of typical population location, density, and
traffic flow throughout a geographic area as key inputs to an evacuation
planning model. In the days leading up to an expected emergency situation (for
example, due to a weather event), the model can be updated via a live AirSage
data feed for that region. Should an evacuation be required, AirSage’s real-time
location and traffic data can be used to monitor compliance and highlight
bottlenecks or trouble spots.
AirSage Founder and President Cy
Smith commented “Our interaction with Dewberry definitely has expanded our
vision of how AirSage can serve the EM community. We are delighted to be working
with Dewberry, and look forward to bringing value and new capabilities to this
vitally important field.”
Atlanta-based Contingency
Management Group will also participate in development of this technology and
will assist with coordinating field trials for the new applications. The
companies expect the first wave of EM applications using AirSage data to be
deployed in field trials during the spring of 2010.
