The release of this interactive feature of the new GIT4Infrastructure.org Information Center (www.git4infrastructure.org) is one in a series of new additions to the site being opened throughout the fall of 2009 and spring of 2010.

Aurora, Colo. - The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) announced that GITA members can now stay connected year-round on the new GITA Members’ Only Online Community (www.gita.org/community). The release of this interactive feature of the new GIT4Infrastructure.org Information Center (www.git4infrastructure.org) is one in a series of new additions to the site being opened throughout the fall of 2009 and spring of 2010.

The community is powered by Zerista, and includes:

Member profiles, forums, and communication feeds.

Member messaging, matchmaking, contacts lists, and meet-ups.

Interactive calendar, event schedules, social schedules, and archived content.

Corporate member profiles and communication tools.

Integration with Twitter.

GIT4Infrastructure.org, which launched 9/9/09, is an evolving, community-based information center thriving from input from the geospatial and infrastructure communities, and GITA invites everyone to be part of the progression of the site by submitting ideas/solutions/content!

To celebrate GIT4Infrastructure.org’s launch on 9/9/09, anyone who joins or renews his or her GITA membership by 12/31/09 will receive a special discounted rate of $99 (normally $125). In addition to the online community, GITA members will have exclusive access to the GIT4Infrastructure Information Feed, launching in November 2009. The information feed will be the most extensive feed for all things geospatial, infrastructure, and the stimulus package. For full details and to become a member, visit www.gita.org/membership.

GITA is the go-to association for geospatial practitioners from infrastructure organizations, including electric and gas utilities, public agencies, communications companies, oil/gas/pipeline companies, water/wastewater organizations, transportation, emergency responders, and more. The association created this site to become a daily information resource for geospatially managing, protecting, maintaining, and operating the infrastructure.

Sections of GIT4Infrastructure.org include: reference materials, applicable technology, networking, interactive features, and news. Visit www.git4infrastructure.org for more information.

The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is the professional association and leading advocate for anyone using geospatial technology to help operate, maintain, and protect the infrastructure, which includes organizations such as utilities, telecommunication companies, and the public sector. Through industry leading conferences-along with research initiatives, chapters, membership, and other programs-GITA provides education and professional best practices.
