May 30, 2009 a stay-at-home mom with three children, Pam Baker was looking for an extra source of income that wouldn't infringe on quality time with her children.

Brainstorming for ideas with family members, Baker's father suggested: "You bake a pretty good pie. Why don't you sell your pies?"

She took 10 fruit pies to the Fairport Farmers Market to test the business concept. It was an immediate hit, with Baker selling out of all of her apple and cherry pies.

That was 15 years ago. Today, Baker, 53, runs a full-fledged business selling thousands of pies a year with 10 full-time staffers during the spring and summer seasons. Her husband, Andrew, has even quit his job as a land surveyor to help with the business, aptly named The Pie Lady - a tribute to Baker's pie-making prowess.
