The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA)  will collaborate on a webinar series leading up to the GITA’s 2010 Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference aimed at informing the geospatial community about the technology innovations needed from a renewed emphasis on infrastructure management.

Aurora, CO & Glencoe, IL -- The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA), a professional non-profit association that supports the geospatial industry, and Directions Media, a leading geospatial publishing company, will collaborate on a webinar series leading up to the GITA’s 2010 Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference aimed at informing the geospatial community about the technology innovations needed from a renewed emphasis on infrastructure management. In addition, the series will address how the potential influx of money from the U.S. stimulus package might affect technology adoption. The theme of the series reinforces GITA’s continued focus on supporting infrastructure project management in the electric, gas, water, and telecommunications industries.

The two organizations have also agreed to share management and promotion of the Rocket City Geospatial Conference for 2009. Now in its third year, the conference has become the premier geographic information systems technology event in the southeastern United States. The partnership will enable a larger 2009 regional audience for the event, focused on the themes of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) and infrastructure technology.

“Collaborating with Directions on the Rocket City Geospatial conference is very much in keeping with our goal of developing regional events to support our membership,” said Robert M. Samborski, Executive Director, GITA. “Directions has done a great job filling a need in the southeast and this partnership will allow us to develop more of the area’s potential.”

“We are looking forward to having GITA’s full support in managing and promoting Rocket City,” said Joe Francica, Directions Media’s vice publisher and the conference chairman. “Our collaboration will lead to a more focused agenda on key topics in the geospatial industry as well as allowing those on limited travel budgets to attend an event closer to home.”

Directions Media will also be a major media sponsor of the 2010 Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference, set for April 25-29, 2010, in Phoenix, Arizona.
