Rolla, Mo. - Phelps County Surveyor Lou Gilbert’s hopes for increasing corner remonumentations in the county were dashed Thursday.
His plans for remonumenting 10 corners in the U.S. Public Land Survey System was scaled back to eight because of state cutbacks.
The Department of Natural Resources, the state agency that partially funds the Cooperative Remonumentation Program, said it would not honor one contract agreeing to a four-corners remonumentation
