PETERSBURG - Organizers in Petersburg are finalizing plans to celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday this month.
Among activities scheduled are a party featuring youngsters dressed as Lincoln, presentations about the 16th president and his connections to the area, special music and a community photo. A commemorative sign also will be unveiled, and an art gallery with exhibits devoted to Lincoln will be dedicated in downtown Petersburg.
“We want to give our favorite son a wonderful birthday party,” Petersburg Chamber of Commerce president Judy Loving said of Lincoln. ...
