WALLINGFORD - Effective May 1, residents who want to build or add on to a structure on their property will be required to hire a surveyor to verify the property lines first - something which typically costs several thousand dollars.
"People who want to take out a building permit for things like an addition to their home, an in-ground swimming pool, an attached garage, anything of value, are going to have to get a zoning location survey first before we issue a building permit," Linda Bush, the town's planner, said after the Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the amendment to zoning regulations on March 9.
