William E. Strange Jr., 75, of Tuscawilla Hills in Charles Town, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at the Winchester Medical Center.

Born Nov. 10, 1933, in Mart, Texas, he was the son of William E. Strange Sr. and Iris (Hargrove) Strange. Mr. Strange retired after 30-plus years as a geophysicist/geodesist, and he was chief of the National Geodetic Survey.

A graduate of Baylor University, he received his Master's degree and post graduate studies from Texas A&M and the University of Wisconsin.
