After 91 years, a surveyor using GPS equipment discovers North Carolina's Grandfather Mountain is not the highest peak in the Blue Ridge.
Grandfather Mountain, NC – October 2008 – Grandfather Mountain President Crae Morton announced this week that, based on a recent survey by Doug Suttles of Suttles Surveying in Marion, NC, Grandfather Mountain will list the elevation of its summit as 5,946 feet.
