This case went to court and there was a fine. Surveyors all over Arkansas helped raise money to pay the fine.
At
one point the FEDS were willing to plea bargain, for a slap on the
hand, but the Defendents Lawyers thought they could win the case.
The
Realtors and Bankers were setting the survey price, on the good faith
closing estimates at $150.00, of course when the buyer and seller got
to the closing table the survey fee was $350.00 to $500.00.
The
NW chapter called a meeting with some of the Realtors and Bankers to
attempt to raise the closing estimates, the price agreed on was $350.00
per survey, this was not fixing the price a Surveyor could charge, We
could still charge what we wanted to, just the estimate on the closing
statement would show a higher fee.
