Microsoft's Vexcel Imaging Develops the UltraCamL for Small Mapping Firms
Up until now, large format digital camera systems were often cost-prohibitive for small companies, but the UltraCamL sets a new standard for this market segment by offering an excellent performance/price ratio and comprehensive photogrammetric capabilities, including aerotriangulation and digital surface model production. The UltraCamL the largest-footprint medium format camera system on the market today, is ideal for smaller aircraft and local projects that require a rapid response. The UltraCamL collects RGB and NIR in parallel. It maintains forward overlap of 80% at 3 inch (7.62 cm) pixels and a short frame interval of 2 seconds. An added feature of the UltraCamL is the ability to integrate with a lidar sensor system in the same aircraft.
Photogrammetric and remote sensing applications for imagery collected by the UltraCamXp include large scale engineering mapping, high-resolution (true) orthophoto production, multi-ray photogrammetry, feature extraction and classification.
