GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP -- A property surveyor placing stakes on recently sold land Thursday morning found the remains of a woman's body in a remote area of Grand Haven Township, west of U.S. 31.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department contacted Grand Rapids Police because they knew officers there were searching for Grand Rapids businesswoman Janna Kelly.
Grand Rapids Police Capt. Jeff Hertel said his department sent detectives to the scene, but he would not comment on the investigation.
The surveyor, working on Pierce Street, west of 160th Avenue, called 911 around 11:30 a.m., according to Ottawa County Sheriff's Lt. Mark Bennett.

Autopsy confirms slaying victim is missing businesswoman

OTTAWA COUNTY -- An autopsy has confirmed that a body found Thursday in Grand Haven Township was missing Grand Rapids businesswoman Janna Kelly. She was a victim of homicide, but police this afternoon would not disclose how she died.
