A land surveyor working in a Texas desert discovers skeletal remains. The sheriff's office turns the bones, which appear to be human, over to the medical examiner for confirmation.

Investigators believe the skeletal remains discovered by a land surveyor in the desert south of Horizon City on Thursday are human.

"We think they're human, but we are waiting for the experts to tell us if that's the case," El Paso County Sheriff's Office spokesman Rick Glancey said Friday.

The land surveyor, whose name was not released, discovered the remains shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday while working in the desert. He immediately notified law enforcement authorities.
