Topcon Announces New HiPer G Series Receiver Systems

LIVERMORE, CA -- Topcon Positioning Systems’ (TPS) popular HiPer receiver series has been expanded to include two new digital design models.

Offering either GPS-only or GPS plus GLONASS technology, the new HiPer G series will be flexible and affordable, without sacrificing system capability, functionality, and ease-of-use regardless of working conditions.

Utilizing a fully integrated cable-free base and rover design popular in previous Topcon HiPer systems, the new Ga and Gb models feature a new digital signal processing (DSP) radio technology. This new advanced design “guarantees improved performance and communication range, and at the same time, low power consumption for maximum battery life,” according to Mark Contino, TPS director of international sales and marketing.

Utilizing the same revolutionary integrated design as previous HiPer systems, the new HiPer Ga and Gb systems are designed to run all day in either the base or rover configuration on a single battery charge. Topcon’s field-proven, 40-channel Paradigm dual-frequency chip technology will track up to 20 GPS and GLONASS satellites in any combination in the Ga variation; the Gb version receives GPS-only signals.

The new Ga receivers will have up to 128MB of onboard memory for static observation storage for post processing. The new Gb receivers will have 8MB of standard onboard memory.

Contino said, “The design and chipset in the HiPer receivers have an excellent track record and years of field-proven reliability. Now, the new G-Series has a new digital UHF radio system. We are proud to be the first manufacturer to adopt digital radio modem technology that provides the advantages of digital signal processing while still offering compatibility with older UHF communication systems and receivers.”

The HiPer G-Series features include:

  • Completely integrated, cable free system design
  • 40-channel GNSS board operating at up to 20Hz
  • GPS (Gb model) or GPS+ GLONASS (Ga model) dual-frequency operation
  • Digital UHF (DSP) radio technology
  • Bluetooth wireless operation
  • Internal memory upgradeable up to 128MB (Ga model)
  • All-day internal battery operation without interruption
“The new G-Series will be a big hit with our customers,” said Contino. “Having the advantages of an advanced, rugged, waterproof RTK system shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg, and you shouldn’t have to live with the pieced together jumble of a cheaper system. With our new HiPer series, we are offering customers a better choice; a field-proven solution,” he said.
