Tripod Data Systems (TDS) announced the Ranger NX, a low-cost version of the Ranger data collector. The Ranger NX features a 312 MHz Intel XScale processor, 128 MB of Flash storage and an alphanumeric keypad (but does not come with CompactFlash and Secure Digital/SDIO expansion slots). The Ranger NX meets MIL-STD-810F military standards for drops, vibration and temperature extremes, and has an IP67 rating, meaning it is impervious to water and dust. The Ranger NX also includes Windows Mobile software and a long-life lithium-ion rechargeable battery. (TDS, Corvallis, Ore.)
