Following in the footsteps
When performing boundary surveys we must follow in the footsteps of those who came before us.
This whole argument of fence line surveying and deed surveying must be cognizant not just of the tolerances of today but the of the tolerances required at the time of our forbears.
As an example the Manual of Surveying Instructions, 1973 discusses Limits of Closure in section 3-124
…The latitudes and departures of a normal section shall each close within 25 links…
