Toronto, Ontario, June 23, 2006- Optech Incorporated, the global leader in the development and manufacture of laser-based survey instruments, is pleased to announce that Terrapoint Canada Inc. has taken delivery of an ALTM 3100EA Airborne Laser Mapping System from Optech.
Terrapoint had previously operated an ALTM model 1025 in a joint venture with another Canadian mapping firm. Since then, they have gone on to manufacture their own systems and acquire others through corporate mergers. As a result of this growth, Terrapoint has become one of the largest and most experienced lidar survey companies in the world.
As Canadian companies that are geographically close to each other, Terrapoint will be able to offer Optech operational and user insight into using the ALTM 3100EA system. "We feel strongly that this relationship will be mutually beneficial and very significant for the future of lidar mapping," says Perry DesRosiers, Regional Sales Manager, Canada and Latin America, for Optech's Terrestrial Survey Division.
According to James Ferguson, President of Terrapoint, "The acquisition of the Optech 3100EA system gives us the ability to strengthen our operational capabilities, enhance our service offerings, and continue to provide all of our clients the highest quality and most reliable lidar and related geospatial solutions. The purchase of the 3100EA system, combined with the firm's proprietary high-range, low-range and mobile terrestrial lidar systems, ranks Terrapoint as a leading provider of geospatial lidar services in the world."
Terrapoint's decision to purchase a new Optech ALTM 3100EA was driven by their past experience with the ALTM product line, by Optech's reputation as a worldwide leader in lidar mapping, and by Optech's 24/7 Customer Support.
