Hayes Instrument Company released the new BanTam X Series Hayes Communication System. The communication system is two small, lightweight Bluetooth radios that compete with the heavier, bulkier UHF radio for use with the robotic total stations. The BanTam also offers a new innovation for regular total stations, data collection at the prism pole. This allows the experienced Party Chief to collect data at the rod, hundreds of feet from the total station.
The BanTam, named after the adjective meaning small in size or aggressive and spirited, can transfer data up to 1,200 feet, with zero interference. The BanTam's patented design lends versability and functionality to the surveyor in the field. With different powering options (internal charging battery, or off the shelf batteries) the BanTam gives Surveyors flexibility. Constructed to withstand the rigorous environmental requirements of the Surveying industry, the radios are adaptable to almost any total station setup available (Topcon, Nikon, Sokkia, Leica, Trimble, etc.)
The Hayes BanTam is the most affordable radio kit on the market, weighing in at half the size and nearly half the cost. The system is fast and easy to install and comes with Hayes Instrument's well-regarded technical support.
