The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA), Park Ridge, Ill., hired Bill Gentesas the new executive director. Gentes previously worked for the Paper Industry Management Association where he was director of member services. Gentes is currently the Mayor of Round Lake, Ill.

Trimble, Sunnyvale, Calif., announced that Joseph F. Denniston Jr. has assumed the role as vice president of operations. Denniston is responsible for worldwide manufacturing, distribution and logistics strategy.

ERDAS Inc., Atlanta, Ga., created ERDAS Professional Services, a customer oriented service. ERDAS Professional Services offers: Development, which creates specific tools for projects; Consulting, which makes sure the software's full potential is being used; and Education, which teaches customers how to use the software.

HJW GeoSpatial, Oakland, Calif., named Mark S. Safran president and CEO. Safran replaced Axel Hoffman and was previously HJW GeoSpatial's COO.

EarthWatch Incorporated, Longmont, Colo., partnered with PCI Geomatics, Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, to share software. EarthWatch shares the QuickBird sensor model for incorporation into PCI Geomatics software packages.

Print-O-Stat Inc., York, Pa., acquired Thorpe-Smith Inc., Falls Church, Va. The addition of Thorpe-Smith will expand a full-line of small and large format digital printing and digital copier systems and supplies for engineering and architectural fields. Lee A. Thorpe, of Thorpe-Smith, was named regional vice president of surveying systems for Print-O-Stat. c
