The Maine Society of Land Surveyors will join ACSM/NSPS on July 1, 2001, as part of its national joint membership restructuring program.
The vote was passed in January 2001. The regular and associate members will receive membership and perks of ACSM/NSPS. The dues will be paid from a general fund and increased membership dues.
According to Karl Olson, executive director of MSLS, the members believed that the national associations need a stronger representation.
So far, New Jersey and Alaska have joined in the ACSM/NSPS national program. Maine will be the third state to join.
