Ordnance Survey Ireland announced the award of a tender to Survey Instrument Services.

Ordnance Survey Ireland, Dublin, Ireland, announced the award of a tender to Survey Instrument Services to provide an active GPS network for Ireland. Survey Instrument Services will install Leica RS500 Reference Stations and CRnet software in the network. The GPS stations are developed by Leica Geosystems, Heerbrug, Switzerland. Until now, the use of GPS within Ordnance Survey Ireland focused on the supply of control points for mapping. Ordinance Survey Ireland now uses GPS for the survey map detail and has initiated several projects to introduce GPS into the map revision process.
