Weekly updates.

The National Association of Counties (NACo) and Environmental Systems Research Institute Inc. (ESRI), Redlands, Calif., launched the Technology Foundation Grant Series, which provide GIS software, training, support and information to qualified NACo members. The series offers grants worth more than $2.5 million for GIS training. The grants are available in two packages: an introductory program for counties without an existing GIS and an intermediate level program for counties who wish to enhance their existing GIS system. NACo will be in charge of administering the Grant Series to worthy counties. Afterwards, NACo and ESRI will release a Best Practice Guide that records how the grant recipients updated and implemented GIS.
