3001 Inc. completed flights of the 10,668-square-mile area affected by Hurricane Rita to aid the USACE and FEMA in damage assessment.
In late October, 3001 completed flights of the 10,668-square-mile area affected by Hurricane Rita to aid the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and FEMA in damage assessment. Flights began on September 30, and the 1-foot pixel, natural color imagery was processed and delivered only 12 days later. The data were captured daily, flown to 3001’s Gainesville, FL office, and processed overnight before being shipped to USACE and FEMA offices in Washington, D.C., the next day. The imagery was captured with three Leica ADS40s, using one Lear Jet 24, one Cessna 421, and one Cessna 401.
