At the close of only its sixth month of operation, the GIS Certification Institute is pleased to announce that the number of Certified GIS Professionals (GISPs) has grown to 315 individuals. Each month a new group of Certified GIS Professionals is introduced to the community. The names of all Certified GIS Professionals (GISPs) can be found in an online manifest at www.gisci.org.

Because of the overwhelming response and the continued strong level of interest in the program, which began operation on January 1, the GIS Certification Institute has increased its initial prediction from 350 to 500 Certified GIS Professionals by the end of 2004.

Professionals interested in pursuing certification can download application materials at www.gisci.org and begin preparations for submitting their qualifications for recognition as Certified GIS Professionals and earn the designation, "GISP." For more information about GISCI Certification, visit or call (847) 824-7768.
