The FGDC coordinates the development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure, which encompasses the policies, standards, and procedures for organizations to cooperatively produce and share geographic data. The 19 federal agencies that make up the FGDC are developing the NSDI in cooperation with organizations from State, local and tribal governments, the academic community, and the private sector. The Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) invites comments from all
interested parties on the draft Address Data Content Standard. The
public review period is May 1, 2003 through July 31, 2003. This standard
facilitates the exchange of postal, physical, and geographic address
information by providing a method for documenting information content.
