Ggeographers from around the world will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Association of American Geographers from March 14 to 19, 2004 in Philadelphia.
Approximately 5,000 geographers from around the world are expected to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Association of American Geographers (AAG), from March 14 to 19, 2004 in Philadelphia. This Centennial Meeting will recognize a century of geographic research, education, and applications and assess geography's next century with special events, exhibits, presentations, and publications.
The latest geographic research will be presented at the meeting, on diverse topics in geography from new geographic technologies to globalization to international terrorism, the spread of diseases such as SARS, and urban sprawl. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Rita Colwell, Director of the National Science Foundation. Plenary sessions will include dozens of distinguished speakers from within and outside of geography.
