Targus Launches First 120-Watt Combination AC/DC Power Adapter 08.05.2003
Targus Inc., a leading global provider of mobile computing solutions, today introduced the industry's first 120-Watt Combination AC/DC Power Adapter. The patented ChargeSource is about the size of a checkbook and is compatible with thousands of personal electronic devices and peripherals, including notebook computers, cellular phones, PDAs, portable printers and digital cameras-eliminating the need to carry a dedicated power source for each device.
The ChargeSource 120-Watt adapter weighs 11 ounces and works in any standard AC wall outlet, car cigarette lighter or commercial airplane power port, providing optimum flexibility for mobile professionals. In addition, more than 70 percent of notebook computers introduced last year require adapters with a power rating of 75-Watts or greater.
According to Brett Johnson, president of Targus Inc., "Our new ChargeSource 120-Watt adapter boasts the thinnest and lightest form-factor available and delivers 50 Watts more power than its closest competitor-capable of supporting the new wave of power-hungry notebooks without adding extra weight."
The ChargeSource power adapter retails for $129.99 and will be available at leading retailers nationwide, including Best Buy, Circuit City and CompUSA and online at www.targus.com. The AC/DC adapter comes packaged with intelligent PowerTips, which communicate the power requirements of each device. Tips included with the new adapter work with today's most popular notebook models by Compaq, Dell, Gateway, HP, IBM, Sony, Toshiba, and Winbook. Other device-compatible tips are available through Targus' Web site, www.targus.com.
