"We are extremely pleased that John Weatherhead is continuing his service on the ARTBA Board," said Pete Ruane, president and CEO of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association. "John's longstanding industry leadership and volunteer work are deeply appreciated and have helped advance our activities to build and protect the U.S. transportation construction market in the public interest."
During his three-year term on ARTBA's board of directors, Weatherhead will work with other board members to decide the course of action the organization will follow and review the fulfillment of that mission. The board also will influence direction of the association's legislative recommendations, which is presently engaged in promoting the reauthorization of TEA-21, the Highway Trust Fund bill. This bill is designed to provide funding for the maintenance of highway infrastructures.
Working in the construction industry for more than 30 years, Weatherhead has developed valuable industry knowledge, an understanding of how it functions and its importance to the U.S. economy. By serving on the board, he will demonstrate Reed Construction Data's commitment to the construction industry and increase the company's exposure in the heavy construction side of the industry.
"John's appointment to serve on the ARTBA board is clearly a validation of his commitment to the industry and how he is trusted and well respected by industry leaders," said Wayne Curtis, vice president and group publisher of Reed Construction Data's Regional Publications. "Over the years, he has clearly provided objective leadership in association and industry activities and has given of his own time and energy to make things happen. We are proud of John's prestigious appointment."
