PCI Geomatics announced that the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Pathfinder Electronic Light Table (ELT) competition results listed Geomatica 9 among the top entries in this category. Although not a traditional ELT, Geomatica 9 scored well based on its orthorectification and mosaicking performance, multi-level display abilities, format support, and overall geomatics capabilities in remote sensing, GIS, photogrammetry and map production.
The benefits of this competition are already being introduced into current PCI Geomatics development, including the Geomatica product line. The NGA (formerly NIMA - National Imagery and Mapping Agency) Pathfinder Technical review team's comments were appreciative of Geomatica's rigorous photogrammetric package and its mosaicking and colour balancing performance. Also commended were Geomatica's sensor support capacity, the flexible Geomatica Software Development Kit that allows package customization, and Geomatica's extensive multi-layer display abilities, which Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) reportedly felt serves as a very competent application in a GIS environment. Evaluators noted the additional benefit of PCI Geomatics' 3rd party relationship with ELT developer Sensor Systems.
