Trimble launched its new wireless location-based services platform for companies with mobile assets, the Telvisant Mobile Resource Management (MRM) System. Telvisant builds on Trimble's position in the location-technology market, offering enterprise applications for fleet and workforce management, telematics, and security. Users of Telvisant get a one-stop, cost-effective solution to monitoring and managing mobile resources.

Telvisant is designed to meet the needs of a broad range of users, including: utilities and telecommunications, government, rental fleet owners, automotive and heavy machinery manufacturers, transportation and logistics providers, specialty fleets as well as field service and repair companies.

Telvisant makes the complex job of managing mobile resources simple. Keeping track of mobile resources traditionally required significant investments in hardware, software and integration. Telvisant requires users have only a computer, browser and Internet connection. Trimble's solution provides the in-vehicle hardware, wireless gateway, applications for both medium- and high-volume mobile asset management, a secure data center infrastructure and service. After choosing a Trimble GPS product or other compatible smart mobile device, the fleet owner or mobile resource manager is ready to go. It's that simple.

Telvisant uses GPS technology to locate a vehicle or mobile worker, wireless technology to transmit the information to Trimble's data center and the Internet to provide complete mobile workforce management from a user's PC. Trimble also offers a range of vehicle mounted sensors to record mission critical business events. By gaining in-depth, real-time data including location, speed, time-of-arrival, time of departure, duration of stay, event reporting and many other types of information. Customers can gain significant improvements in efficiencies and profitability from their mobile assets.

Telvisant offers a variety of hosted applications including sophisticated mapping, location and event reporting, messaging, reporting and work order management. Trimble also offers the Telvisant Software Developer's Kit (SDK) for integrating custom vertical applications or enterprise systems with the Telvisant platform. In addition, the service can provide wireless carriers, telematics providers and vehicle manufacturers with branded Internet applications for their subscribers.

Users can choose from a variety of vehicle-mounted wireless GPS products from Trimble's CrossCheck family of mobile devices, Telvisant supports the Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) and Advanced Mobile Phone Service (AMPS). General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and 1xRTT CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) support will be available soon.

In addition, Telvisant provides text-messaging capability with Trimble's Echo LDX(TM) mobile message terminal in the vehicle, or any smart mobile device such as a PDA or wireless phone for workers in the field, that supports the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and Short Messaging Service (SMS).
