John Copple, chairman of Sanborn, a provider of geographic information systems and spatial solutions, announced that Melinda Brown has joined the company as vice president of marketing. In this position, Brown will be responsible for developing and managing the company's overall marketing strategies and programs. She will report directly to the chairman.
Brown comes to Sanborn from Denver-based Space Imaging LLC, where she was executive director of the satellite imagery company's E-Business division. During her tenure at Space Imaging, Brown also served as director of marketing and director of acquisition management.
Prior to joining Space Imaging, Ms. Brown was director of strategic relationships worldwide for QC Data Inc., a data conversion and management firm based in Denver. Before that, she held a number of senior positions in high-technology firms including Seattle-based Labyrinth Corp., where she was vice president of corporate development; Montvale, New Jersey-based Butler International, where she was senior project manager; and Waukesha, Wisconsin-based Intelligraphics, where she served as marketing manager.
Brown holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin, and has completed postgraduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Colorado.
