Registration deadline extended for Intergraph online education course.
Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions announced its agreement with UNIGIS International
(www.unigis.net) is expanding to include academic credit for the Intergraph online education course, "Introduction to Geographic Information Science (GIS)." With an extended registration deadline of Oct. 15, 2004, this online education course provides a theoretical and hands-on understanding of GIS.
Initially, the following five UNIGIS international partners have elected to accredit this course: University of Salzburg (Austria); University of Krakow (Poland); University of Goa (India); University of Amsterdam (Netherlands); and University of Girona (Spain). Students at these universities have the opportunity to earn elective subject credits toward reaching UNIGIS MSc
(GISc) degrees. The UNIGIS institutions will also integrate these course materials as an optional component of their MSc degrees.
The course is suitable for both existing users of GeoMedia Professional or other GIS technology, as well as those new to GIS. Course participants are provided with a 20-week license of GeoMedia Image and GeoMedia Professional. Upon completion of the program, participants will have the opportunity to take an examination in order to gain GeoMedia Professional Certified User status and an Intergraph Certificate in GIS Integrated Geospatial Theory. In addition to gaining these certifications, participants earn points toward GIS Professional (GISP) recognition by the GIS Certification Institute.
