Applanix announced the launch of its POS AV 610 (Position and Orientation System - Airborne Vehicles), designed for direct georeferencing of airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and high-altitude Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) sensors. The system is used for strategic surveillance and commercial remote sensing applications. The Applanix POS AV 610 integrates precision survey-grade Global Positioning System (GPS) with high-end inertial technology to produce detailed, real-time and post-processed complex terrain data for topographic imaging and digital surface models. The system was specifically designed for the Geospatial community and a variety of tasks such as visual spatial analysis, environmental monitoring, glacier flow mapping, and three-dimensional city modeling.
The POS AV 610 represents the ultimate referencing technology when combined with the company's industry-leading firmware and data processing software, specifically developed to deliver the precision required for SAR operations. The system incorporates the latest in RLG (Ring Laser Gyro) technology, reaffirming Applanix' position at the forefront of technology development, by defining the future in response to trends within the industry for higher quality product performance.
