Aculight Introduces Pulsed Fiber Laser for Defense, Sensing, Micromachining Applications 4.26.04
Aculight Corporation, a leading developer of innovative laser technologies, introduced Model PF1550-30--a pulsed fiber laser that generates eye-safe, short pulses over a wide repetition rate range. Compact and rugged, Model PF1550-30 is suitable for applications such as laser range finding, range imaging LIDAR, fiber optic sensing, communications, micromachining, and as a seed source for high-power amplifiers.
Based on erbium-doped fiber technology, Model PF1550-30 delivers 1.54-Âµm light output via a single-mode fiber. The device generates nominally 1-ns pulses at repetition rates between 100 kHz and 1 MHz. Model PF1550-30 produces 1-watt of average power and 1.2 kW of peak power at 1 MHz. The laser measures just 10- x 10- x 4-inches and weighs 15 pounds.
Model PF1550-30's diffraction-limited output also makes it attractive for applications such as micromachining, where extremely small spot size is critical. In addition, the device's all-fiber design is virtually maintenance free, allowing it to operate in even the most demanding industrial environments.
