Dewberry, a consulting firm based in Fairfax, VA, has announced the promotions of senior staff in the firm's headquarters:
Phillip J. Thiel, a senior associate in the Fairfax office, has been named vice president. Thiel directs mapping and geographic information services for the firm. He is a member of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association, the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, and the Office of Homeland Securities GIS Advisory Group. Thiel holds degrees in Business Administration and Fire Protection Engineering from Brenau College.
Michael T. Wiley, PE, LS, a senior associate in the Winchester office, has been named vice president. Wiley manages the Winchester office, where he oversees land planning, engineering, and surveying services. A member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the West Virginia Association of Land Surveyors, and the Maryland Society of Surveyors, he holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University. Wiley is also a member of the Eastern Panhandle Homebuilder's Association, where he serves as co-chair of the Legislative Committee; the Top of Virginia Builder's Association, where he serves on the Legislative Committee; and the Winchester-Frederick Chamber of Commerce, where he serves on the Legislative Task Force. He is a past president of the Maryland Engineers Society.
Karen Brill, director of surveying in the Ranson, WV, office of Dewberry/Appalachian Surveys, has been named an associate. Brill is a member of the National Society of Professional Surveyors, the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, the Maryland Society of Surveyors, and the West Virginia Association of Land Surveyors.
