Applanix, a Trimble company, launched its POS AV 610 (Position and Orientation System - Airborne Vehicles) system for direct georeferencing of airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and high-altitude LiDAR sensors. The system is used for strategic surveillance and commercial remote sensing applications. The Applanix POS AV 610 integrates precision survey-grade GPS with high-end inertial technology to produce detailed, real-time and post-processed complex terrain data for topographic imaging and digital surface models.
Also, Applanix released POSPac LAND 5.0, data post-processing software specifically developed for the challenges of land-based mobile survey operations. Configured for use with the POS LV (Position and Orientation System - Land Vehicles), the new software is designed to take advantage of the powerful, tightly coupled inertial/GPS engine to provide new levels of performance while operating in a land environment. The modular software is a processing suite that offers wizard setup options, and major enhancements for fast ambiguity resolution and inertial cycle slip detection. POSPac LAND is aimed at those organizations currently undertaking mobile data capture for road surveying, pavement inspection, GIS and asset management. (Applanix, Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada)
