The Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) released the Digital Cartographic Standard for Geologic Map Symbolization online for pubic review. The standard will result in a single, modern standard for the digital cartographic representation of geologic features. It is scale-dependent and applies to maps published by the federal government in offset-print, plot-on-demand, and electronic formats. Reviewers can visit http://ncgmp.usgs.gov/fgdc_gds and submit comments to mapsysmbol@geology.usgs.gov by September 15th.
